COMPETITION: Win A Groupon Voucher

The lovely people over at Groupon have given Eating Adelaide at $30 voucher to give away to one lucky reader.  You can redeem it for anything on Groupon – but as you’re reading a food blog I guess it will most likely be a restaurant experience!

The rules …

Entry is open to anyone anywhere in Australia – not just Adelaide.

Entries will close at 5pm Adelaide time on Monday 18 June (you have ages to enter!) and I will get in contact with the winner that evening. The draw will be random.

To enter, leave a comment here. Use the same name you use on Facebook and, if you like Eating Adelaide on Facebook, you get two entries for the price of one, so to speak.

If you need some inspiration on what to write in your comment I’d love to hear about your ideal deal. Is there a restaurant that you’d love to try but is a bit pricey so you’d only try it on a deal? Somewhere you’d love to go back to? Or somewhere that’s awesome and doesn’t get as much trade as you think it should?

  1. I’d like to see more ‘rural’ restaurants featured on Groupon, think more of areas like the Barossa/Adelaide Hills, places within an hour of the city still have lots to offer but aren’t centrally located so sometimes need help with promotion!

    1. You’re right there, Kirsty. You quite often see the same one or two experiences pop up and Adelaide Hills is definitely underrepresented.

  2. Inspired by Eating Adelaide’s post earlier this year about its enjoyable experience at Holdfast Shore’s Eden Dining Room & Bar, I was quick to suggest it for a Friday dinner to a friend making a visit home from her new residence in Brisbane. Joined by her cousin, the three of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves – the food, wine choices and service were equally as wonderful as each other. I’d love to take my husband there for lunch or dinner, so he can taste what I’d talked about for days later.

    1. I agree – more of a focus on local/organic/ethically produced ingredients would be awesome. There is Etica (pizza bar) in Adelaide & the Locavore in Stirling, which has a very strong focus on local produce.

    1. I’m guessing you mean for soft drinks? No restaurant would want to offer that with coffee with me in the vicinity! 😀

  3. I wouldn’t be fussy about where we went, I’d just be happy to be going to a restaurant! With 2 littlies and a mortgage it’s something we won’t be doing for a while!

    1. Ah well good luck! We find that early dinners (and I mean like 5:30pm!) at pubs are an economic way to take smaller members of the family out for a meal and it’s a less busy time so you’re less likely to interrupt other patrons!

  4. We don’t often eat out, after bills and everything are paid theres not a lot left. My favourite place to eat at is Zapata’s at North Adelaide. I love my Mexican food!

    1. Maiz & Mezcal on Magill Rd is meant to be good, and Lucky Lupitas in Bedford Park is awesome. LL is pretty cheap too (and does equally good takeaway).

  5. I’d love a sushi deal – all the toppings I like are $4 and $5 per plate so a quick lunch ends up costing $20.

    1. Sushi isn’t the cheapest of lunches, is it? And especially in winter I find I need to eat so much of it I’m better off finding a sandwich or something …

  6. You can’t beat the steak at The Lion in North Adelaide, always so good and the plate always dressed so well. The only problem is the cost, if only it was a bit cheaper I think I would want to eat there every night!!!

    1. So would I – in general! I hate being asked for suggestions for seafood restaurants – there seem to be so few specialist, interesting venues in Adelaide.

  7. More fishing based experiences on the Mighty Murray which culminate in a meal where one can experience the tastes of what the river has to offer .Too many people rave on about seafood but freshwater has its own distinct flavour – no not muddy, and really is left the poor cousin when competing in a ocean based society

    1. That is a brilliant idea, Mick! I’ve noticed a lot of the Murray River deals seem quite lacking on the food front – something like this would be a great addition.

  8. This would be awesome! I love going to restaurants, and recently even got to eat out at one that didnt have an indoor playground! That was our child-free weekend. We went to the Sebel on North Terrace in the city and it was fantastic.

    1. I’ve been the Sebel a couple of times and enjoyed it there. The decor is a bit over the top but the food has always been excellent. Glad to see someone else feels the same!

  9. I would love to see a nice harbourside restaurant which is accessible by public transport. Often the restaurants listed are miles from me and I don’t have a car!
