It’s that time of year again and the 2012 Good Food and Wine Show is fast approaching. In its third year, it is running from Friday 12 October through to Sunday 14 October and will again be held at the Showgrounds.

Tickets are still just $20 and celebrity chefs making appearances include Manu Fieldel, George Columbaris, Matt Moran and Maggie Beer.

This year sees the return of the Fisher and Paykel Celebrity Theatre, where you’ll be able to watch your favourite celebrity chefs cook up a storm. New attractions are Andrew Fielke’s Tuckeroo Cooking School, Skinny Girls Cocktail Beauty Bar and Oxford Landing Estate’s Restaurant, with food by Maggie Beer.

Tickets will be available online from Wednesday 1 August.

This coming weekend (28 and 29 July) is the Winter Reds festival in the Adelaide Hills. It’s a great opportunity to head up to the Hills and try a range of wines and get cosy with a winery at one of the many events that are being held.

One such event is lunch this Sunday at Longview Vineyard. Longview is hosting a craic: guests will enjoy an Irish lunch (perfect for this cold weather) accompanied by Irish tunes and, of course, plenty of red wine.

Menz FruChocs are something of a South Australian icon so it takes a little courage to start messing with a such a winning formula.

But Robern Menz have done exactly that and introduced Raspberry Chocs. The combination of milk chocolate on the outside and raspberry jelly on the inside has proved to be a hit: the new treat has been trialled in Robern Menz’s own retail outlets with great success. And it’s now available statewide, in Drake Foodlands, Cheap as Chips and Neds.

Of course … chocolate and raspberry was never going to work, was it?!

As an aside, Robern Menz is a family owned, South Australian company. It was established in 1908 and is now in fourth generation hands. So that’s yet another reason to check out these new sweet treats!
