Foodland’s Golden Anniversary Recipe Book

Foodland is this year celebrating its 50th anniversary – you might have noticed your local shop running a lot of promotions!

Earlier this year, Foodland ran a competition through its Facebook page, seeking its customers best loved recipes. The top fifty have been collected into a newly released cookbook, which is available in store.

The book costs a whole $2.99 and $1 from each sale will be donated to one of four charities: Little Heroes, The Leukaemia Foundation, The Heart Foundation and The Flinders Medical Centre Foundation.

Gorgeous Festival, McLaren Vale

Summer’s around the corner and that means it’s time to start heading to South Australia’s beautiful wine regions.

McLaren Vale kicks off summer with the Gorgeous Festival, held at the McLaren Vale Visitor Centre on Saturday 24 November.

Gorgeous is a celebration of gorgeous food, wine and music. Food from the Currant Shed, the Victory, Blessed Cheese, Fino and D’Arry’s will be available. Bradd Johns, chef at the Crowne Plaza will be running a masterclass before a mystery box cook off against McLaren Vale local chef, Nigel Rich, from The Elbow Room.

A selection of wines from a variety of McLaren Vale producers will be served. Producers include d’Arenberg, Shottesbroke, Paxton, Hugh Hamilton, Alpha Box & Dice and Battle of Bosworth.

The music acts are headlined by Missy Higgins.

Tickets are $88*, or  $198* for the VIP Bar.

San Remo Australian Diamonds

No, not diamonds out of the ground, but the netball playing type of Diamond – the ones who represent Australia at an international level and are proudly sponsored by South Australia’s own San Remo.

The team will be in Adelaide over the next few days. The annual quad series kicks off on Sunday at the Entertainment Centre with the Diamonds playing England. And while they’re here, the team will also enjoy the now annual team dinner hosted by San Remo. The Diamonds’ nutritionist works with Adam Swanson to come up with a healthy menu appropriate for elite athletes on the eve of a big game.
