Cru, Cheese and Chocolate

The cheese and chocolate parts are self explanatory (I hope!) but Cru? That refers to the Vale Cru, a collective of small batch winemakers from McLaren Vale.

On Sunday 14 October you can join the Vale Cru winemakers, and a selection of regional producers, at the Victory Hotel, Sellicks Beach, for an afternoon of wine, cheese and chocolate.

Cheeses will be from Smelly Cheese and Kangarilla Creamery, with chocolates from Bracegirdle’s.

The event gives wine lovers a chance to talk to the winemakers, and taste (and buy) their wines.

For a fourth time, the event will be held on the lawns of the Victory Hotel, so you also get to enjoy the amazing views over the gulf.

Tickets are $40 a person and you can book online.

The Vale Cru producers are: Brash Higgins, Ulithorne, WayWood, Battle of Bosworth, Lazy Ballerina, Rudderless, Five Geese, Geddes, La Curio, Old Faithful, Vigna Bottin, Samuel’s Gorge, J&J Wines, Inkwell and Maximus.

Coopers Celebrates Bathurst

UPDATE:  Coopers has just extended its partner agreement with the V8 Supercars to the end of the 2015 season.

In the run up to this year’s Bathurst 1000 (4-7 October) Coopers has released a special Bathurst pack.

In the same year that Coopers celebrates its 150th birthday, Bathurst is marking its own milestone: its 50th anniversary.

The Bathurst Pack contains 20 cans of specially labelled Coopers Mild Ale and is only available in the run up to the Bathurst weekend.

Coopers is a major sponsor and the exclusive beer partner of the V8 Supercars.

Father’s Day – Dolce & Co Dad’s Indulgence

This year Andy announced he was expecting a Father’s Day present and, miraculously, I thought of something hilarious for our 21 month old to ‘buy’ him and it arrived yesterday.

However, it’s possible you are not so organised (I am only crowing because usually it is me flapping around at the last minute – you’d think Christmas was a new thing every year!) but you might be lucky and be able to snaffle one of Dolce & Co’s Dad’s Indulgence Chocolate Box.

The box costs $30 and consists of three treats for dad: the Cigar (a crunchy praline centre wrapped in chocolate ganache), Le Café Noir (an espresso and dark chocolate cake) and After Eight (milk chocolate macarons with a touch of mango).

Boxes are available for collection today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday 1 September). Dolce & Co is accepting limited orders so if you’re interested you’ll have to get on to it pronto. Telephone 8410 3633 or visit the shop at 45 Gilbert Street, Adelaide.

Dolce & Co has been on my ‘to do’ list for a while so I’d suggest dropping into the shop anyway, and checking it out for yourself!
